The journey from the Platform to the Table is a journey of Discovery of who God really is, recovery of the authentic self, and reconnection with God, self, and others.

Spiritual (Re)Formation Program

  • Year 1 - See the Love

We believe compulsive performing is driven by fear, and is rooted in experiences with our attachment figures in childhood and what we have been taught about God.

In Year One, we discover who God really is. We study theology, philosophy, Church history, and the tradition of the Church. Our professors make space for questions like, “What is God like?”, “How does God feel about me?”, and “What does God require of me?”

As we explore these questions together, we deconstruct narcissistic theology, and (re)form a loving God-Image. We learn God does not drive us with fear and narcissistic demands. We come to understand that his love is a Gift to be received, and that we belong just as we are.

  • Year 2 - Receive the Love

We believe that compulsive performing is an instinctive, codependent survival strategy of our performer self to manage fear, shame, and a felt sense of disconnection from God, self, and others.

In Year Two, we invite our wounded child to come out of hiding from behind our performer persona to be reparented by God. We study psychology, neuroscience, and 12-Step spirituality. We receive God’s love through passive and somatic spiritual practices, contemplative writing therapy, and by implementing a rule of life.

As we hold the stories of our wounded child in the Light of God’s unconditional love, we regulate our nervous system, reestablish connection with our authentic self, and (re)form secure attachment with God.

  • Year 3 - Be the Love

We believe compulsive performing robs us of our conscious choice to serve God and to be in authentic relationship with others.

In Year Three, we equip and coach our performer self to lead and be in relationship with others while rooted in God’s love and in alignment with his or her values. We study Ignatian Spirituality, the life of Christ and the Saints, and leadership. We embody the love of Christ as we use 12-Step tools, Ignatian Rules of Discernment, somatic spiritual practices, and modalities of psychotherapy.

As we learn how to respond versus react to our triggers to compulsively perform for God and others, we give our performer self freedom to choose how he or she wants to serve and interact in relationships.

Application Deadline: Sept 8, 2025

  • This class examines the origins of early Christian doctrine as founded in an encounter with the risen Christ, his radical new message of the good news, and his revolutionary way of interpreting Scripture. We will compare the Church’s theological development to that of our own and see how our theology shapes the way we relate to God (i.e., our God image). We will also learn the different ways of interpreting Scripture and be introduced Christian doctrines by reading together carefully curated theological texts..

    Dates: Sept 13, 27, Oct 11, 25, Nov 8, 22, Dec 6, 20

  • This class examines the classical journey of the spiritual life as “purgative–illuminative–unitive,” the active and passive dimensions of spirituality, and the classic “mansions” and pilgrimage imagery of the soul’s journey to God. We learn how different seasons of life call for different postures of prayer and how the way in which we relate to God in these seasons is inseparable from the way we pray (and vice versa). We will grow in our knowledge of the spiritual life by reading together carefully curated contemplative texts on prayer and the soul’s journey to God.

  • This class examines the prevailing contemporary Christian (mis)understandings of God that have precipitated our contemporary age of deconstruction. Deconstruction is couched as a good to the extent that it represents an ironic constructive rejection of these false forms of Christianity (“anonymous atheisms”) which traffic the counterfeit “gods of our misunderstanding.” This class is designed to journey with students as they learn to grapple with the big questions of our time from a proper Christian understanding. Together we will ponder what it means to live faithfully in the present, through the reading of carefully curated writing of contemporary authors on relevant themes.
